(1) Sw. United States (s. Arizona, s. New Mexico, wc. and s. Texas) and Mexico from Sinaloa (at least formerly), Chihuahua (probably), Tamaulipas s. to Chiapas and the Yucatan Peninsula and Guatemala.
(2) Central America (Belize, e. Honduras and ne. Nicaragua and Panama) and South America in Colombia e. through n. and se. Venezuela n. of the Orinoco, Margarita Is. and Trinidad to Guyana, Surinam, Guiana s. through Brazil (Bahia, Chapada Diamantina) to e. Bolivia, Argentina to Tierra del Fuego.
(3) Andes from sw. Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and w. Bolivia to n. Chile and nw. Argentina (Tucuman).
North America n. of Mexican border
Summer and winter: se. TEX (Laguna Atascosa where a reintroduction program is underway).
