Se. Europe from w. Russia, e. Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania and the Crimea, n. Kazakhstan to Mongolia, ec. Siberia (Ussuriland) and ne. China (w. Heilongjiang).
Winters from the c. Mediterranean Basin e. through the Persian Gulf region, s. Asia (Taiwan) to Indonesia and Australia (Western Australia (Lake Argyle), Northern Territory (Kakadu National Park, Fogg Dam), Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia), Tasmania and in Africa s. of the Sahara.
