Kirghiz steppes n. to the Anadyr River, s. to the Kamchatka Pen., Amurland, Sakhalin Is. and ex. w. and n. China (w. Sinkiang, nw. Mongolia (Altai region) and n. Manchuria).
Winters from sw. Iceland to the coasts of Ireland, Scotland, England, n. France, Belgium, the Netherlands, n. Germany, Denmark, ex. w. Poland (Elbe Delta), s. Sweden and the North Sea coasts of n. to c. Norway, then locally in ne. Switzerland, Italy, the Adriatic coast of Yugoslavia, Albania, s. Russia (n. Black Sea, the Sea of Azov and the Aral Sea), n. Iran (s. Caspian Sea), Japan, s. Korea and s. China.
